Sager Centrino / ATi 9600 notebook - Page 2

This model is really sweet. We won't see pricing until January, but I cannot imagine it being outrageously priced. Do people not wish to buy it from Eurocom, any particular reason as to why Sager needs to carry this model. Anyhow, I just hope someone gets the guns to release this machine earlier!! For the price and the features, its verging on being the best in the market.

i am really interested in this notebook
i am hopeful on my 5680 return and then i prolly look to this notebook cuz i have realized i only play 1 game (generals) and really i spend my time on my notebook doing mobile stuff..

1 question though
how would you compare a 1.8ghz centrino to a p4?

See my response here. Pentium M CPUs are only available up to 1.7GHz. The 1.8GHz Intel mobile chip will be the Dothan with twice the cache memory. It's performance would be significantly better, especially for games.

Sager is the largest Clevo vendor in the U.S. and PC Torque is the Sager reseller with the best reputation for customer support. So I would rather buy from them if given a choice. However, you are right, there are many other Clevo vendors out there who will pick up the slack if Sager misses this opportunity.

Not the news I was hoping to hear, but oh well. I was holding out for this if it were coming within the next month or so. I guess the I8600 or the 4780 are my only preferences now.

Small update. Prostar possibly might offer a version of the 375E, but they will not release any information on it. A CS-Rep *suggested* I call back the beginning of January for more information. Hopefully more information on Eurocom's service will be made available if neither Sager or Prostar will not support this system. I might have to take my chances and utliize that grace period and test out Eurocom.

COM'ON SAGER SELL THIS MACHINE

i have put my 5680 up for sale. if i can sell it then i will wait for the 375e and buy that. otherwise, no major complains. will stick with the 5680

You know.... If you want a Centrino Processor w/ an Radeon 9600 Pro real bad, you can always get a Dell Inspiron 8600. You can get a 1.7 P-M w/ a Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo for pretty cheap.

Additionally, it is said that WUXGA is not available on the 3762 "YET". This is looking more and more hopeful.

A light weight Centrino 1.7 with Radeon 9600 Pro blends the best of both worlds: 3D gaming plus working on the move.

I cannot understand why it's taking so long for laptop manufacturers to release this product. Im sure it'll have quite a demand (mine for example hehe).

Cheers.

Actually, there are a significant number of laptops currently available with this combination as described here. Although Sager is usually at the forefront of performance notebooks, they are late to the party on this one.

Personally, I'd rather give up 15% of gaming performance to get 300% better battery life in a cooler, quieter and lighter laptop.

Centrino users dont like to play games? hmmm there's some good logic! /sarcasm off. That like saying that anyone who would really want to play games WOULDNT be buying a laptop. Braking news for you mate: people like to blend both worlds: performance, portability and space saver.

I would say that MANY users would be willing to give up a small raw-performance gap (which is no larger than 15% or 20% according to tests shown on some online magazines) for a lighter, cooler, more portable laptop, with 2.5 x battery life.

Cheers.

I have no doubt that Centrio people like to game... on gaming machines. Centrinos are not gaming machines.. they are business machines. You certainly wont get 5 hours gaming with a 9600 (though, gaming on batteries is stupid anyway), and it certainly isnt worth the lost FPS anyway.

That is why companies have been slow to bring out "gaming" Centrinos...Intel desinged them for business, not games. Had they made them for mobile power, it would be different...
