L2000 Muddy Sound...

Hello, I have been lurking here a while, and finally registered to post.

I have an HP L2000, and while I like the computer, the sound output leaves a lot to be desired. Whatever I play, .mp3 files, DVDs, games, and general videos from the internet sound muddy.

It sounds better when I turn the volume way down, but then it is too quiet to here. I was wondering if there was some setting I coud tweek, or if I have a bad unit.

I used to have a Dell at work and the sounds were great compared to this, at any volume. Thanks for your help.

I would update the sound drivers to the latest and they have environment controls you can set/other controls to make it sound really good...

I did that yesterday. I will look for the controls today. Thanks.

Is there a way to show the volume level on the screen?

Not anymore... Back in the old days (Before 98) the laptops had small LCD screens that did it... You can use the windows volume control which is like a little speaker on your task-bar... You may have to enable it...

Oh, my dell had a display across the bottom, much like a TV. That was nice...

I have a v2310us and the speakers are terrible, they sound crackly and distort at the slightest volume. I don't know if there is anything you can do, they are just cheap speakers. the sad thing is mine say they are altec lansing, not good advertisement for them.

Have you even changed the profiles in the sound settings? Because they are set to a horrable preset out of the box...

Go into control panel and under sound there should be like "SoundMAX" or something like that and it will have different enviorments and settings that can be changed...

HP uses a great sound setup but doesnt pre-configure it because that way the user can choose what they want exactly...
