XPS2 Bios in 9300 - Page 2

I tried to boot off a cd I made using the Bart's method and I get a cannot run under protected enviroment error when I try to flash. Any ideas or what type of bootable method did you use when you did it?

Thanks a lot for this. To the person who asked about loading a later BIOS: after flashing to the XPS2 BIOS, it is possible to then load any normal unmodified XPS2 BIOS.

Sure why not

The XPS Gen 2 is still a far superior system. (I'm not angry with you Hazridi for posting this hacked B.I.O.S (basic input output system)) my brother-in-law has a 9300 and may purchase my 6800go Ultra card, thus giving me a surplus of capital so as that I may purchase the new 7800go GTX

For this I’m most pleased, and would like to convey this by giving Hazridi positive feedback (I also feel that anyone who thinks that Hazidi’s contribution has bettered this forum should also take the time to leave positive feedback by hitting the little icon with the check/X)

hope this helps

I'm wondering the same thing too. Once you have your 9300 recongized as an XPS2, can you flash the A04 BIOS? Or do you have to keep the cracked one loaded?
Ya, can we use Dell's XPS2 A04 Bios update after the hack?

Thanks, all we need to do is wait for 7800Go upgrade for XPS2

if u have a 9cell battery but a 9300 charger will it still work (as in charge it)?

Also, after this flash, will the 9300 onboard Broadcom NIC work at Gigabit speeds?
Any answer to whether a 9-cell battery will power the modded 9300 sufficiently, or do you have to have the XPS2 powerbrick as well?

Yes, you can update with the stock bios after you use these.

hey hazridi, nice to hear from you ... I know you have a life and that you re a busy guy, but is it possible for you to post a tutorial on how you modded your laptop ? this would provide a starting point for those who want to upgrade to the 7800....... the posters in this forum will be eternally grateful to you for taking the time to help us out... thanks bro..

There is a tutorial someone in this thread: http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...1&page=4&pp=15

It is by someone else, but he uses Hazridi's modified BIOS.

What I want to know is if you can upgrade to these cracked bios, then change over to a generic intel non dell bios for the 915PM. Something you can use to change and adjust bios more then dell lets you.

I think this has been answered "Yes" three times in this thread (sorry to be a jerk but seriously, do people think a post has to be in response to them to have their questions answered? Can you only read it if someone has quoted your OP in their reply?). Your laptop is now an XPS with a 100MB ethernet card and a 6800 go. You can use any XPS bios once you make the machine think it's an XPS.

So using a bootable USB hard drive I have flashed my 9300 with the XPS2 Bios.

First thing that happened was the system refused to boot with my 80watt adapter plugged in.

Removed the adapter and booted into Windows, after Windows loaded the Found New Hardware wizard detected every single piece of hardware in my system from the Modem, to the Sound Card and Hard drive ect...

Restarted when Windows told me to and checked device manager and every piece of hardware was installed correctly including the 6800GO no ultra!!! After checking display properties I can confirm the the clock speeds are correct.

I then ran 3D mark 05 with the 80watt power adapter plugged in so I could see how the card runs. Well it runs like its on battery power and I checked PowerMizer and even though my 80watt adapter is plugged in it will says I am running on Battery Power.

I am going to order the 130 watt adapter from Ebay today and I should now in a few days how the system runs with my card.

Next I am going to buy me a 6800 Ultra.

Does anybody know if you have to order the heatsink or if the one I currently have will work?

Just ordered the power adapter off Ebay for $45 and the 6800 Ultra from Dell for $349, hopefully both parts should be here in a few days and I will let you guys know how it goes.
