Headphones - Page 2

Thanks for the reply, Gs.

I'm also looking into the Shure E3c's and the E5c's (the fives being INCREDIBLY expensive). Have you had any experience with either of these? I'm really curious as to how good the E5c's are. What's put in those to make them $500? That's crazy. For that money, those earbuds better make people wet themselves because of the sound quality.

I have an audigy 2 ZS sound card on my desktop pc. I currently don't own a lappy but will be purchasing one within the next year. and will most likely be a sager thanks to these forums. But anyways, on to more important things. I purchased the
"Sennheiser HD-280 Traditional Closed Dynamic Collapsible Headphones" from amazon yesterday for $70 link here http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...onics&n=507846

Do you guys think im gonna need a headphone amp with these headphones and my audigy 2 Zs or will I be OK. And also what amp do you guys think has the best performance for minimal price.

give them a look
Koss headphones are pretty good. As is the case, I am a poor bastard. I have both Koss UR15s and UR29s. The UR15s have great bass but lack in the highend. The UR29s have wayyy to much treble. A good equalizer on the UR29s will bring down the sweet spot (about 800hz-2khz) and they will sound great.

The UR29s sound much better witha headphone amp because they are high impedance at 100ohms.

Goog, with the Audigy 2 and the 280s, I doubt you'd need an amp, but it never hurts. Not really sure what the rated output of the Audigy 2 is though.

you wont need an amp but its not a bad idea to have one or make one yourself...

like I have pointed out before - the best place to get this and more questions answered is www.headfi.com where they will give you pointers to build your own amp for less than $50.00 which will KICK ASS!!

Its called the CMOY amp and I have two of them...

Oooh, I was talking about the second one linked, but the first one sure looks good too...

Edit: BTW, I agree with you about headphone break in. The UR29s I have keep sounding better and better, but the bass still isn't where the even crappier UR15s are. Granted, it is probably the difference in the drivers making it so much more noticable, but then I've had the 15s for a year now.
