Question about shutting the screen - please read

Hi,
I just got my xps gen 2 and its great!! Though I have one unresolved issue:
How can shut the screen and still have the internet working - for example that imesh will still download files???
I understood that in hibernate and standby modes, the internet is disabled, I checked and it looks as if it correct. And I just tried to close the screen without doing anything and I think it went into standby mode.
If for example I want to go to sleep and not turn the computer off but dont want to have the light show either, what do I do?
Thanks very much

In your power options mode, set it to "do nothing" when you close the lid.

ye do that, even though i find the screen and the laptop will still pause while 'thinking' about what do to when you close the screen even if its set to do nothing

Set it to what they did. The screen will naturally shut off when it detects the click on the release tray, however, the computer will function and download perfectly fine. I love doing this for those ultra large PC demo files.

make sure you got the right drivers too

People what you do when you are downloading extremely large files, like movies or big demos.

Only close lid and shut down monitor.

Im kinda worried about the temp, cause when I leave my xps for long hours running it starts getting hot by the power button.

DL for DAYS and WEEKS with your lid closed? That poor laptop gets no use whatsoever... such a good system gone to waste!
