Anyone had success selling their stock RAM after upgrading?

Wondering if I could score some extra cash toward upgrading from my stock 2x512 to 2 gigs. If you were able to sell how much did you get?

Also, does anyone think I could sell my dell copy of XP MCE 05'. Its unopened and still in the shrink wrap. I dont see any reason why it wouldn't its the same as any other OEM copy isn't it?

eBay is your friend.

I tried to sell my 2x512 but didn't get any bites. You should be able to sell it on ebay though. I decided in the end to just hang on to them and stick them back in if I ever wanted to sell the computer. That way I could use my 2 gig sticks in the new comp.

I was looking to sell my 256 sticks. I looked on ebay and it looked like I might get about $8 for each.

Also note that if you ever need to send your notebook back to DELL for a replacement they are going to want your ORIGINAL RAM (or at least the equivalent).

Yeah, unfortunately the used RAM market isn't what it used to be.

A friend of mine once tried to offer me an extra $50 because he felt bad that he was only paying me $400 for a 16MB stick.

And if you think THAT makes me look old, how many of you know what a SIPP is?

Ohh SIPP i remember those days, pre fancy pants SIMM lol

I found a receipt a while back for a 4MB SIPP that i had bought a looong time ago for $490 ... what a bargain! using that price ratio per MB it would have cost me $125,440 to buy a gig ... niceee

my first computer only had 64KB RAM and ran at 1MHZ but I felt like I had supercomputer with that thing, I remember writing programs in BASIC for it when i was in third grade.... *sigh*, I should never have thrown out my C64

I decided not to sell my 512megs of ram. There is no way to make as much as they cost me. I am going to keep them, in case I ever have to send to computer back to Dell.

A classic machine with many hours spent on it...ahh, the memories, I think in hindsight more fun was had on that machine than games currently......LOL I remember what a fuss everyone made over the 512kb (yes KB) expansion card for the Amiga 500....lol

But anyway back to it.....It's probably a good idea to keep it just in case any memory goes bang.

Wow, the first comp I used was 33MHz when I was 6 or so, and the comps at school were even older and ran off those 5" floppies. I guess I'm a young one at 18 though . Yah, don't sell your RAM, it's always nice having an extra pair of sticks around. I have the 256 chip that came with it as a back up just in case .

The Amiga 500 was a computer way ahead of its time. That thing rocked in the sound, graphics, and multi-tasking departments. I was a computer science student at college when I owned it. I eventually traded up for a Turbo XT PC clone with 640KB RAM, 30 MB HD, and Amber monitor running DOS . . . yuck!
