A few months ago I purchased a Dell 6000d not a bad machine paid 1000 with coupon had x300 (128mg) and a 1.86 WiFi etc.
But I felt I needed a laptop with a video card that had a little more to offer. The X300 in the dell was just not giving me the performance I needed in the latest games, HLS Doom III etc.
I had 3 basic criteria’s not in any order video card, looks and weight. After doing about a month of research I narrowed it down to two Asus notebooks the w3 and the Z70va a.k.a. refresh.
I loved the size of the w3 but I wanted the x700 anyways I went for the Z70va because of the x700 did not want to regret a second notebook mistake by getting the slower card in the w3 (x600).
I’m I glad I didn’t go with the w3 because the z70va ROCKS!
This notebook really is handsome and very well built, I immediately notice the build quality the moment I open it no creaking sounds solid very solid.
I had zero dead pixels and the unit was in perfect shape.
I also like the DVD tray very sturdy not flimsy like the drive in my Dell 6000. I purchased it from www.agearnotebooks.com the gentleman there Frank was awesome he was polite and answered all my questions.
My configuration is as follows.
1 gig of ram 2x512
WIN XP Pro
2 year warranty part/labor lifetime telephone
Total was 1570 shipped.
I had to have the notebook quick for a training class and they got it to me quick, ordered it on Monday and received it second day on Thursday I will say that I had the Hitachi k760 7200 HD from my pervious notebook so they didn’t have to install the O/S I’m sure that helped.
Anyway i played HL2, Call of Duty 2 demo all run well I played HL2 in it native rate 1680x1050, I picked up Radlinker and O/C to 400core 350 memory with the cat 5.9 mobile 2X AA and 8X Anisotropic filtering and it was totally playable. 3dmark mark score was 3008 o/c 400 core 350 memory. Call of Duty 2 Demo BSOD last night 3 times, if anyone knows why this is happening please leave a post.
In conclusion I am extremely happy with this purchase. Not only from the vendor but also the overall performance and looks of this laptop (Highly recommended)
