Battlefield 2 Patch 1.03 Problems...

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with the new BF2 patch that I'm hoping you guys can help me with. I like it overall, but for some reason every time I get into a game my mouse cursor is frozen in the middle of the screen and I can't press any keys or move my cursor. The game is still going on, people are killing and chatting but my HUD is frozen. I can't even press esc to go back to the menu! Anybody have any ideas?

Gratefully,
Marcus

I feel stupid...just realized that ALL of my common controls were UNBOUND. I don't know just how this happened, but I blame EA for it.

This just happened to a friend of mines BF2. He patched yesterday and it was just fine loaded it up a min ago to play with me and told me he couldn't do anything. Told him what happened to you and you were right.

Well, I just placed an order yesterday for an Inspiron 9300. This will be my first laptop purchase ever, but I really wanted a psuedo desktop replacement machine, and this seemed pretty close for a good price.

Anyway, reason I am replying here is the Search function doesn't seemt to be working on the board. And with my 9300 coming in I am getting nervous that it doesn't play Battlefield 2 very well.

I hope the 9300 (w/ Geforce 6800 256... non ultra) is enough of a gaming laptop to blow away my AMD XP 2000 w/ Radeon 9600 desktop. I was positive it would be when I ordered.. but now my palms are a sweatin'. :0

Soooo, anyone have frame rates for the 9300 at different resolutions/qualities?

Or maybe even one...

Thanks.

Simply put, this blows away my 9800 Pro A64 2ghz desktop. I don't think you will be upset. Oh, and if you do want more perfomance, you can OC these things quite a bit and get 4400-4600 3dmark05's pretty easily. Yes the Ultra and 7800 of the XPS are both much faster still, but compared to a ATI 9600, you are going to have a huge smile on your face.

I agree, very easy to overclock.. my 3dmark05 is testiment to that! and its stable too. Also if it turns out that overvolting is safe and effective, you could get even more performance from the 6800 Go.. even approaching 5000! in 3dMark05, which is pretty damn close to the stock 6800 Go Ultra scores.

I ran my 9300 at max native resolution (1920x1200) with everything on high, except for textures, those on medium. And it ran good.

The Video was slightly overclocked and I had 2 GB of ram. The Ram seems to make a big difference with BF2.

hmmmm, I only ordered 1gb of ram with mine. I guess I felt like Dell charges way too much for RAM so I figured when I have the money down the road I will purchase a nice package of 2xgig sticks from newegg. (Then maybe try to sell the 512mb modules on ebay or something. For now I have to wait, I'm out of cash. Getting married and buying a house is friggin expensive. lol)

Battlefield plays just barely on my 9600 system w/ a gb of ram... at like 1024x768 with all the settings turned down. So, I'd be happy with a higher resolution and medium to high settings on most things...

I usually play at 1400x1050, with almost everything set to high (dynamic shadows off because of nvidia bug) and the performance is pretty smooth, only 1.26 gigs ram though.
