Do you think Windows Vista will only run at full potential with GeForce FX or higher. (I forgot where was the articles was for the Windows Vista system requirements)

I am thinking about my friend notebook I2200 which has a Integrated Intel graphic card... will he able to run Windows Vista?

Maybe no transparency, no blur effects...

That blows. More overall heat.

it was bound to happen, even more so after OSX tiger started using rendering

OSX rendering runs on Intel Extreme integrated graphics. Windows is a way, way, WAY bloated OS. They just need to start over after Vista, and build it from scratch.

Yeah you tell em , give Bill Gates a call I'm sure he could use your advice.

It is more an oprtion of being there for those that want it, you can turn it off (after all, not everybody has the systems to run all the graphical effects).

You may complain but it frees up the CPU for what it is ment to be doing and lets the GPU do what it is good at. There are people who use tons of resources in little programs to make their GUI look nice - this is a much better option...

I had a chance to play with Vista beta1 for about a week (My distant Uncle is a big wig programmer) and it ran fine on a P4 2.5 512ram and Geforce 2mx 400. I always turn off the OS eye candy anyways for performance reasons. It ran fine without any issues. Just my opinion, but I didn’t see anything that made it a huge leap over XP. I know it was only beta1 so time will tell.

the number one best feature yet is.... u can use a USB flash memory as ram..... instant 4gig boost FTW

For Windows Vista to run its full graphical interface, you must have a 256mb graphics card - that's the requirement stated by MS.

But just think how cool it will look.

can u really use a usb stick as ram?
yeah vista should run on any gfx card that can run XP now since there will be an option to revert to the "Classic XP" way.

Nice... USB stick as ram... sooner we don't need ram to be slotted in the motherboard lol

It does look very cool, very smooth. The dynamic resizing of the icons and such is nice. Beta1 has serious USB issues, I had several transfers over a gig crash on me. It was very frustrating. Also right now it multi-tasks like crap.

Other than they way they are rendering everything and the change in the start menu I agree that it is not world ahead of XP. I was very disappointed to find that I still cannot burn a dvd without 3rd party software,; not talking about an ISO or anything, I just want to be able to put 4GB of files on a disk to transfer them of back them up and I still can't do that in Vista.

Vista did OK in 3Dmark considering the driver have not been optimized for that OS (I tried the newest nVidia drivers with the new CP). I got like 3800, of course that is down quite a bit from what I get in XP. I was overclocking the card as well and I could not get over 4000, not on the MS driver that came with Vista or the new nVidia one.

As long as I was not transferring anything over USB or moving a file from a second partition to the system partition (this is what I was referring to as it not multitasking well, multiple apps are fine but when it's doing something things crawl) then it ran very fast on the 6800go.
