Nvidia 6800go Ultra Underclocked???

well i should be playin Black & White 2 soon and i want to expirience all of its graphical prowess so i have been tweaking my system a bit.

well, i updated my drivers to Dell's new 7.8.1.1 and got 5204 in 3DMARK05. after the test i checked the systeminfo and it said my core and memory clock speeds were 249.8/658.1, a lot lower than the standard 450/1100. any idea why this happened? the system info will fluctuate between these two sets of core/memory clocks.

after a couple of test they returned to normal but then would change after another test or so. 5204 Marks is ok, but now im considering updating to the 80.40's and flashing my bios to something like 475/1150 or 500/1200, but the only extra cooling i have for my lappy is the bottle caps under it for increased airflow, haha.

can i get links to how to install new drivers with modded infs and is flashing the bios relatively easy and safe? also, do i even need to put in all this work to make B&W2 purr??? thanks guys

80.40's are very buggy and often have texture problems with games, its not worth the extra points in 3dmark. And the video card downclocks itself when not using 3d applications, like the cpu. black and white 2 should run fine the way things are

With the dell drivers the card will clock down to 250/600 while in 2D mode (desktop) and will clock back to 450/1063 while in 3D mode. Dont worry this is NORMAL. It is done to conserve energy and heat.

the new nvidia 81.84 drivers have a major fix for black & white 2, links here:

Prove it

Only time temps go up is when you are under load.

doesn't matter if your clocked at 250/600 or 450/1060 no load on the card is being produced when viewing the desktop.

Overclocking (with flashing) could give you the risk of weird abnormalities with your videocard.
I clocked mine back because my GPU doesn't seem to like it to much.
Now (even after a fresh install of XP) I have sound synch issues with all of the 3DMark series when running in demo mode.
The sound was ahead of the visuals at least 2 to 3 seconds.
Since a fresh install this has been reduced to one second.
Also... Nalu seems to have a bit more trouble when it comes to frame rate.
It's noticably gone down.
Overclocking can't hurt your GPU.
Hmmm...
Can't call all this a coinsidence I afraid...

Yeah unless they drop the volt on the card like the Pentium-Ms do, which I dont think they do.

Only when on battery.
