Nice! I saw that there's a new tecra S3 in the states (DDR2, SATA and fingerprint reader), but no M70... yet.

Also, I noticed that some of the M55's and M45's in the states claim to have DDR2 and the 45's with sata HDD's.

hmm....not sure about M50 and M40s with SATA....

DDR2 ...it has

According to tosh usa SOME of the m45's (apparently preconfigured M40's) have sata. the m50's say ata-6.

wow.....M50s do not have SATA...only IDE ATA-6

M45s...hmmmmmm..are they satellite PRO models? I think there was suppose to be a change to the M40 series to go DDR2 and SATA.

As you've mentioned, US & canada don't necessarily do the same things. Maybe they're just waiting a bit to unload the last M40's before launching the M70 or refreshing the M40.

Wowie zowie, it looks just like my M60 but the optical drive's on the other side.

And I have a numpad.

I dig it.

I liked the M40 design better. I don't like how the screen fits with the base of the notebook. It kind of extends past the base when it is closed...

Dont like the placement of the speakers right under the palm rest. Had bad experience with laptops with those kind of speaker placements right under the wrists. Overall it looks clean but still prefer the M40 design just cause of the speaker placement. (=

sata....ddr2...... cant go wrong with the M70

the speakers sounded as good as the M40s...a bit more bottom end though.

You should see them at Future Shop and Best buy now...and london drugs out west... oh and staples (although they have lots of old stuff on display)

What were these experiences?

My speakers work great, no problems, not even location.

*sigh* I knew the day when my M40 would be replaced by a new model would come swiftly, and it certainly did.

I also don't really like the placement of the speakers, as you can easily place your wrists over them and muffle the sound.

Other then that, it looks pretty snazzy.

Nice pics, rep points for you YP5!

There's nothing wrong with your PC man, it's just like mine from the specs.

Haha I'm well aware of that.

I love my pc, it owns.

I'm just saying that the technology cycles are ridiculously quick these days.

I find speakers placed closed to the wrist will create a muffled sound as quoted from University. Not a big annoyance but a design thought.

No nVidia Go 6600? I hate ATI
well the placement of speakers is similar to hp's now where its on the rim of the base so if you close the lid you can use it as a personal boombox or whatever.

When is the M70 going to get released for the US?

In fact, just realizing that I actually use this computer as a sound device in the morning ('cause the other system I use is bassy and I don't want to wake anyone up) while thie lid is closed, makes me love the speakers/placement more.
