Back Order on Windows XP?

Thread Starter
I got a reply from Alienware on my lap top and they say it is delayed because Windows XP was back ordered.

How in the world does a computer company run out of an operating system?

There was a bad batch that was missing files. Alienware would not replace the faulty disc with a new one. instead they just emailed the missing files. I dont know if that has anything to do with the back order. It is odd to not have the operating system. mismanagement? How else can you explain that. Does anyone actually think that Microsoft is having a delay in shipping Windows XP to Alienware? I thought they had the rights to burn thier own on-site.

I'm sure they can burn all they want, but they have to get an activation code for each machine they build. I'm sure AW has to pay Microsoft for each copy, so my guess is that is what is holding it up.
