so farI'm on the road, can't download futuremark - its really annoying as I can't benchmark the modded bios
I'll note my experience so maybe it'll help others:
I can use shoman's method to flash and flash back no problem. There is no risk of being stuck in a different bios setting using this technique.
I upgraded my video drivers to the 81.84 from laptopvideo2go, using their modded inf file and the original coolbits reg hack. My intent was to be able to benchmark better against mmzmasters similar system (he has 81.82 drivers) as my previous 3dmark5 stable score was lower around 4.4K Unfortunately the futuremark download issue stops that for me.
I use powerstrip to overclock.
Without futuremark, I am having to do testing for artifacts by gaming, and have no 3dmark scores to compare/contrast to my old/to other systems
I flashed to 1.36v and noted that I could (at least on my system) push the clock settings higher without getting artifacts immediately. Didn't really help since artifacts came in gaming. Maybe the overvoltage didn't kick in until the card had to switch to 3d work?
(I'm new to this so some musings will no doubt be wrong)
Given the artifacts, I am using the modded voltage bios, to try and get a sublte increase in my cards performance. (thanks to the posters on this thread for pointing me in the right direction)
I look at people like reaver and note that they can get a higher STABLE overclock. Maybe a voltage mod on mine can let me approach their clock rates?
I read comments about the modding not increasing the card voltage. Maybe I read it wrong.
When I flash, I can download the bios again and confirm that the voltage changes stay.
