Exactly, the when flashing your GPU BIOS, you will get an error saying that BIOS is not identical.
Dont worry, i know how to flash a different BIOS to my BIOS, i mean different model, different firmware.

The only thing i ask you is can you plz attached one of your modded BIOS here, thank you!

heheheheh, i fixed it mate! even when i reflashed my video card, i couldnt see anything on the screen but heehhe, memory....

So, besides the original poster...who succeeded in flashing their NV42 to higher voltages and got a better overclock? All I see is failures, blank screens, and complete screwing up of the card!

Absolutely no one can overclock the NV42 chip at the moment!

Hopefully i will see something in near future can do that ?!

?!?! What? I have my NV42 running at 375, what do you mean you can't OC it? Collbits will even let you OC the Dell drivers.

Or where you talking about something else?

Such a variance in the different cards. My v42 seems low
My detect optimal in nvidea (coolbits2 hack) is only 334/678
ATI test tool gives just over (varies) 340/750
My previous futuremark05 was 3.4K with 350/750 and 76.5 drivers
I'm updated my drivers but not retested 3dmark5 score
That's a low score, using the 78.11 Dell drivers, I get 3.4K 3dmark05 with stock speeds. I haven't tried OC, and don't plan to until i've had this thing long enough that it is outdated
post #270 of 336
hey that was a typo, it was 4.4k......edited the offending post

if you do the nvidia coolbits2 hack and just "detect optimal frequencies" from your nvidia panel then you'll be able to get over 4000 3dmark5 points....and thats without stressing the video card.

I proved that by using the ATI stress tool, it takes longer but returns the similar results as the nvidia test function on your display adapter

the reason I decreased my overclock was that the ATI tool showed the card slowing down (or throttling?) giving artifacts, at the higher clock I did have, and the FPS dropped as a result. From this I take that real world performance in gaming will be higher consistent FPS from the lower overclock

*there's a lot of confusion over the topic of overclocking. Honestly if you just do a detect optimal frequencies then you have nothing to worry about. Mine has not been stock since I got it in springtime.

I think he meant overVOLT
is it okay to overclock with the Dell 78.11 drivers? or do you have to use the mod desktop drivers?

Well I thought so, but you never know with some folks on forums these days .

Exactly. We are talking about the topic of this thread, means about volt mod, not just normal overclock using Coolbits or Rivatuner.

So can you overvoltage your NV42chip to higher core, i bet no at the moment!
I have the nv41

On stock voltage I use 391/750

I tried many new voltages: 1.11-1.20-1.25-1.30-1.35

I could not clock any higher on any of these voltages. I am dissapointed :-(

I set the frequenzy in rivatuner. I get artifacts in the naturetest in 3DMark05 if higher than 391.

Is it save to overvoltage this go6800 rom (v5.41.02.39.60) from my Amilo M3438G ?

Sorry

Hi...
Sorry to warm up this Thread..Can someone help me?
On the Picture you see if i set Entry 1 to 1,1V , there stand nothing on Vid...
Same on Entry 2.. Why? Cant set up anything...

Come on guys...

Hi

So i dont read the whole thread yet - but the first post is definitely wrong
Just read the official nibitor manual at http://www.mvktech.net/content/view/2069/37/1/5/

Last paragraph:

* Voltage Table Entries: Here you can edit the entries of the voltage table, or even add new entries if you see there is enough space for them. An entry consist of a label eg. "1.3V" as identifier for the driver and the actual VID eg. "03" which is set to the voltage regulator. You must note that the voltage label is not responsible for the output voltage, it is only used by the driver to select correct VID.

You only changed the name of that voltage but not the voltage itself - it will remain at the normal value and will not change to the name of the voltage.
If you really want to change the internal voltage of the card you have to change the VID - but nobody knows the correct values of the VIDs - so it is a game of try and error
For example peter-pan changed the VID from 06 (stands for 1,3 V on a 7800 Go) to 04 and the card is less overclockable than at 1,3 V but more overclockable than at 1,1V - so the new voltage must be between this values, about 1,2V.

If you flashed your card to a renamed 1,38 Voltage your card will still run at 1,38V no matter which label you chosed - and 1,38V i too high for a 6800 non ultra with not so good cooling as a 6800 Ultra Go.

Sorry but that whole thread is based on "bullshit"
Just RTFM
and sorry for my bad English
Except that you probably should have read the f***ing thread before you posted because it does work . Granted that the values might not be as accurate, but they're close enough and higher overclocks are possible.
