Phase 9 10/12/05 - being packed for shipping
Phase 8 10/12/05
Phase 5 10/10/05
Phase 3 10/7/05

Here are the specs of my 4500 desktop. Currently in Phase 2 10/6/05.

Alex Aguila is awesome! He kept his word from May 2004 honoring a promised discount. I have dealt with Lucy - a sales manager - and she has been very gracious in setting up my order. As with my experiences with Alienware, they have gone above and beyond what one could and should expect. I love Alienware A great company from the top to the bottom.

Yeah. I couldn't justify the external card for this work PC. Reviews of integrated sound have been good and I'm not looking for a 5.1 surround sound set up. I have the Klipsch Ultra 2.0 speakers which are very nice for a work desk.

These are some very nice speakers. Great sound without a subwoofer.

Congrats on the new Area-51 4500 CancerKiller! It's has to be difficult not to check the latest and greatest option while configuring! I salute you for buyer savvy. The way Alienware is shooting systems out the door nowadaze, it may ship in time for next weekend!

I paid over $3,500 for almost the same PC last Dec and Phase Game was a respectable thirty daze from order to receipt even though I made a OS change after ordering and Christmas/New Years was also in the mix.

The only differences between our configs is I chose a second Seagate 160GB HDD, a PCP&C 510 Express PSU, an Intel 570J CPU (of course the 650 wasn't out yet), and the AW Noise Dampening wasn't available then either. I'm sure ten months has made a big difference in price...it was then called 'Area-51 5550'.

You're gonna love it! The only problem I've had with the system was with the dial-up modem and it was replaced under warranty very efficiently/professionally. That small problem turned into a big "attaboy" for AW in my mind.

I see Alienware is offering LightScribe optical drives now, you may want to consider a change order if your printer doesn't spit ink on disks! As soon as Plextor offers LightScribe tech I'll buy immediately.

I can't believe you received the special return customer discount that was supposed to end 01 Jan 05. A perfect time to use it too, since about the only discount now is the $99.00 Shipping Mail-In Rebate. I never used my $200.00 Previous Customer Discount 'cause the 10% Instant Rebate + $99.00 Mail-In Shipping Rebate AW offered last Dec worked out better for me. Alex Aguila...and the whole company rocks, very impressive!!!

How many Alienware computers do you own now?

This will be #3. I have the Area51m from Nov 2002 -conspiracy blue, an Area51 desktop from Oct 2003 saucer silver with blue alien ice, and this rig when it comes. This is a desktop for work so it was much easier not to go wild and get the ALX. That would be overkill for what I do. I just need a solid desktop for running multiple programs at once that also require a decent graphics solution. The 6800 ultra was a bonus in that is cost the same as the 6800 GT so it was a no brainer to up grade.

There will be 4 AWs in the lab I'm in when this baby arrives. There a AW PIII hydraulic case that we've been slowly upgrading to have it keep up. I'm gona steal it when I leave this job and get my own lab up and running.

Oh yeah. Alex rocks! Way back when the discount was discontinues Alex offered it to the first 50 people who emailed him. After two weeks he posted that he didn't have more than a handful of takers so I emailed and said it would 2005 before I would be in the market for a new PC again. He said he'd put me on the list and to email him when I wanted to buy. I did and he kept his word. I wasn't counting on it, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. AW rocks!!!!

You still gonna buy one of em when you see the prices of the discs that you need to buy to be able to burn the image onto the non readable side ? cuz you cant use any ordinary disc to burn the fancy image to.

they are gonna be uber expensive compared to normal cd's/dvd's at least for the next year or 2

Yeah. The disks ain't gonna be cheacp and I didn't see any offered by AW yet in the disk section on the configurator pages. Sounds cool, but it'll have to be around for a year or two before I'd be willing to buy one.

The LightScribe drives are brand new on the AW Configurator...LightScribe media just showed up...

Verbatim DVD+R LightScribe 20-Pack in Slim Cases = $35 or $1.75 each
Verbatim DVD+R (non LightScribe) 10-Pack in Jewel Cases = $15.00 or $1.50 each...

NewEgg has Verbatim DVD+R LightScribe 30-Pack in Cake Box = $20.99 or 66 cents each, after a $16.00 mail-in rebate.

Sharpies are cheap I know, its the twelve year old girl with perfect handwriting that really costs ya!
