Thinking about picking up one of these

Been eyeing a dv1331se at Best Buy and am looking for a thinner and lighter NB to accomodate my XPS2. I have researched some on the net about it and it seems ot be a really good unit and light. They seem to have a lot more features compared to the Dell 700m which I dont particularly care for to much.

well i bougt it lastnight. I havnt opened it yet.. Deciding in my miond if i wiant ot keep it and doing osme more research. BestBuy seems to sell out of them and not get themin for a while. So i thought id pick it up and not opned it for a few days till i make sure their isnt another one out their i want instead. Like the Averatec 4100 seems decent but less toys and features than the dv1331se...

i would give it a try and see especially if you are thinking on keeping it... there is a higher then normal rate of this model failing (bad motherboards)

I ordered mine from HPshopping and saved me 100-200 dollars than what it would have cost me in Bestbuy. Also, 12 months no payment no interest (It isn't that important cuz I have the money, but still a good deal.)

What do you consider higher then normal failure rate? Is their proof of this other then a few pissed off forum members here and their? You have to think how many thousands of machines they sell vs the few that find forums to bitch...

i dont have exact #'s but i work at a major retailer in canada that sells this model... compared to other models the failure rate is much higher. usually dont see the same laptop x3 or x4 but the same issue at one time.

I did many hour sof extensive research online and cant find evidence of any higher failure rate then any other company. I messed with it all night at work, seems to be a sweet little machine. So many features and looks nice IMO. Time will tell I guess.

dont get me wrong, they are very good machines. it could just be a batch of them or something too... it is usually ~ the 30day mark that most people have this issue if they are going to experience it... not ALL are failing.. just more then I usually see of a particular model

WOW....

This is my second HP laptopI have ever owned. I had a zd7280 last year. I have to say this dv1331 is a sweet little machine. The sound is the LOUDEST I have ever had on any notebook. It is very light and easy to carry around which is what i was looking for. The only complaint I have so far is the screen housing/casing seems to be a little thin making it easy to twist the screen back and forth. Other then that it is a very nice little machine and has a very nice style to it.

It was between this machine or the Dell 700m. The 700m screen for me i think was going to be a tad to small, plus I dont like Dell's grey/white styling. If it was grey and black like my xps2 then i would have prob gone that way. This HP has many more features then the 700m though and not much bigger or heavier.
