Two finger scroll?

Thread Starter
I purchased my 12in ibook sunday. One thing I kinda missed from my other notebook was the fact that you can't tap the touch pad to click on something. I read up a little bit and found some 3rd party shareware so I could configure my touchpad. It worked pretty well, but I find that I really miss the two finger scroll and do not really need the tapping function of the touchpad as much as I thought. I uninstalled the 3rd party software, but my two finger scroll hasn't come back....does anyone know how I can re-enable my two finger scroll? Pardon my ignorance, but I am still learning OSX.

thanks.

Why did you install a third party programme to enable tap clicking when that's already a feature of OS X? (System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse>Trackpad>Trackpad Gestures)

What did you install and how did you uninstall it?

I dragged it to the trash can...the third party program that is. When I was enableing the trackpad tapping before it wasn't working at all.

Yeah, you didn't have to install 3rd party software in order to enable the tap "click". Check System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse>Trackpad>Trackpad Gestures as Kakaze said. If the two finger scroll doesn't work, try unchecking the box (located above), close system prefs, then open it up again and recheck the box. This might enable it. For future user prefs, check the mac before you install unnecessary 3rd party software.

What programme was it? Chances are it installed a kext; that wouldn't be uninstalled by dragging the programme to the trash.

In Finder, hit command F. In the new window that comes up there should be 4 drop down boxes that will most likely say Kind:Any Last Opened:Any Date.

Change Last Opened to Visibility and in the drop down next to it change that to Visible or Invisible.

Once that's done, in the spotlight field at the top of the window, type the name of the programme. Select what you see that has the name of the programme and drag it to the trash.

That probably won't see the kext but it will clear out the rest of the chaff. To get to the kext you need go to Macintosh HD:System:Library:Extensions. Scroll through and see if you find anything with the name of the programme you installed and then trash it. It'll ask for your admin password when you try to do that. After you do, restart and things should be back to normal.
