Need help dismantling the Satellite Pro M10. I removed all the screws but the black plastic protection seems fastened to something I cannot see. Either that, or there's some connection somewhere and I didn't want to break anything.

Anyone with any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes. I do exactly that all the time. Just make sure to get a case for a 2.5" drive and you'll be set.

Hello All,
I'm trying to get at the hard drive on a Toshiba M115-S3094. There is one screw on the cover where I suspect the hard drive is located - I can identify what all the other removable parts underneath are. But when I remove the screw, there is something else holding the cover. I've pulled as hard as I dare to - don't want to break it - but it wouldn't give. Any suggestions?

look with a flashlight for any impresions or icons in the plastic to indicate a way to push. slide then lift maybe?

Thanks for replying. I can actually get 3 of the 4 sides raised. The fourth side just will not come loose. See this link:

As I mentioned before, I am a little afraid of exerting too much force on it. I looked underneath it with a flashlight, but cannot see anything obvious to release that edge.

I just started: Toshiba laptop and notebook repair and disassembly guides with pictures.
I think you have a very nice idea. Perhaps if we could click on some of the more detailed pictures in order to get a more detailed view...??

Engel,

I had a similar problem with my DVD/CD-RW combo drive. I had to replace the drive. Now it reads and writes CDs just fine, and reads DVDs just fine. Replace the drive and you can restore Windows with no problem.

Yes. Getting inside them is exactly the same. THere may be some minor differences once you are inside (GPU, CPU etc) but the general layout is the same.
