A quick recap - I have posted here before with the sound problems I was having. In most games, sometimes when soundfiles were being played there would be a slight stutter. This was annoying in SP games but in MP games like Enemy Territory it was a right pain.
I had the issue both with inbuilt audio and with my Audigy 2 ZS card. I used a PCI Latency tool to adjust latency settings and to some extent it helped but it did not eliminate the problem.
I have now found a way of virtually eliminating the problem .... This only works for the audigy card though.
In the systray there is a power utility icon (green monitor). Right click it and select Standard Performance. The default is High Performance which apprently stresses the PCMCIA bus resulting in the stutter effect.
I haven't noticed any change in the quaility of the audio in games and I can now enjoy playing without annoying stutters !!
