It's the same principle and I'm sure the scratches aren't that bad. Suprised you didn't go on a tangent on how noisy the nano is...
well actualyy the scrathces are bothersome. I just returned it today for the white ipod and for some reason the ipod nano in white is more scratch resistant? Does anyone know whY?

If the scratches are as bothersome as your noisy notebook fans, I wouldn't even worry about it.

It's all in your mind man.

The answer is that they aren't. They just don't show up against the matte white background, wheras the Glossy Black just accentuates them.

Well didn't Apple release a fixed nano?

Cover it with Duct tape! You get a great pair of scissors in medical school don't you? Yet another use for this remarkable product!

You have no conscience of the real world. People will do ANYTHING to get an iPod. ANYTHING.

No, not everyone. Just some.

I'd just like to point out that scratches show up insanely easily on black cars as opposed to white/silver cars. I think the same thing is at play here, though there might actually be something truly wrong with the reports of nano screens that get "so scratched that the display is unreadable."
I bought a black nano lastnight and took it to school in my pocket and by lunch the screen was covered in scratches. I dont care that much but it is a lil downer. I was planning to buy a protector at school today but now i dont see the point. (I bought the nano at bestbuy because the school is on a month waiting list for these things :P ) I can see both sides here. I know alot of you guys just dont wanna hear it but then you dont have to read this thread :P. The screen does scratch way to easily, one of the scratches is quite deep. Ive heard alot of people complaning about this and its not good for apples rep but then i again, I heard of the issues and I still bought one so it wont hurt them that badly. Most stores will give you a replacement and Ive heard that apple is gonna start selling them with a slip (dont know if its true) but apple really should do something cause these things do scratch too easily. I have seen many ipods in the past and they are alot more durable than mine.
