YO. Vectorlinux rocks. www.vectorlinux.com
SOHO edition comes with an surprizing fast KDE3.3 preconfigured and kernel2.4.29 pretty well configured.
nvidia/ati 3d ain't pain in the ass to get working
USB pendrives work out of the box, HP cameras work ou of the box. HP printer works after a few tries. it is awsome. The kde is preconfigured out of the box for eye candy and speed. I would still recomend disabling artds.
With cedega i can nicely play wow on vector and it is still a fast distro, very fast distro. Faster than ubuntu. I recompiled a 2.6.12.6 kernel with config by hand with cflags: march=pentium4 -ffast-math -03 -wall -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe and it is lightning fast. KDE starts in 5 seconds (no artds).
The standard version of vector linux is awsome. It is fast and has pretty good preconfigured ICEwm.
But as any other slackware distro it kinda lacks of packages, but linuxpackages and rpm2tgz comes to the rescue sometimes.
ABF, i know you like messing around with distros, lets say after u try vector you will forget about gentoo tempting....
