I bought myself a 9860 a while back and recently I stupidly spilt liquid all over the keyboard. I've taken it into a repairman and he thinks I'll need to replace the motherboard. I live in Adelaide, Australia and was wondering if Sager had a local shop anywhere in my city? I doubt they do but heh, I have to ask
After spilling the liquid on my computer I turned it upsidedown to try and get as much to drip out as possible. Unfortunently it was already too late by then, my comp promptly shut down and started acting up dodgy. The fan was sometimes on, the screen went on and off, some lights worked etc. After an hour or so it had devolved into the state in which it is now. I turn it on and all the lights go on, the fan starts up, the clock goes on... but the screen doesn't do jack.
It's like the computer itself is working but the screen isn't. I haven't had the chance to hook it up to an external monitor or test out the hard drive, vid card on their own but after taking it into my local repairman he basically told me "Some things work, most things don't. Looks like your mother boards damaged."
So right now I'm going with worst case. I need to replace the motherboard. Theres no Sager branch anywhere in Australia and so I need to have it shipped from the US and its going to cost me $1.000 for the board.
Could someone give me the correct figures and info here? I would really appreciate some help from the PCtorque staff and the folks here at the forums.
Thanks, Jim.
