Asus Z71v Overheating

My Asus Z71v is overheating badly when I play games.. It is seated on a Targus Cooling pad but still the keyboard gets really warm and thats due to the heat from the hard drive.. Also If I have it on my laptop, the GPU gets really hot.. Are there any suggestions to solve this or should I sent it back to Asus??

If the keyboard's getting really hot when playing games, I don't think it's the harddrive since that's located under the left palmrest. The keyboard getting warm would also be the result of the GPU. Unfortunately, it's a common thing with all of these Z71Vs. The GPUs regularly heat up to 90C or so under full load over long periods of time. The cooling solution isn't too efficient so it does get hot. If you can't stand it, you'll more than likely need to go with a different laptop altogether.

You can use chc to check temps
CPU temps between 60C ans 80C are normal
hdd temps up to 60C are normal
If you are exceeding these temps contact your dealer.
z71v are warranted by dealers not asus.

damm I really like my Z71v... I really dont want to sell it.. I am going to apply thermal paste.. Where can I download the CHC software??

Paste is already there. No ammount of other paste will help you. In the time it took you to type that if you had typed it into google "centrino hardware control" you would have had this http://www.pbus-167.com/chc.htm

Why would you sell a notebook that you like that works perfectly fine? This logic difies laws of relativity?
You have to contact your dealer for help in determining if its overheating. If your dealer is not qualified to figure it out,........ Then you take matters into your own hands. You said your laptop is overheating. I find this about as usefull as going to your mechanic and telling him your engine makes noice. Can you be a bit more specific? I mean you are here for help no? If you want help and want anyone here to make an effort to help you, you your self have to put an effort into it otherwise nobody will want to help you.
Whats the cpu temp?
Whats the gpu temp?
What are the symptoms?
Are you overclocking?
Are you using the 533fsb cpu not 400?
If your only symptom is heat comming out of the notebook then your laptop is not overheating and you should not be telling us its overheating. If it was overheating you would have had othr sysmptoms aside from the normal heat. I dont mean to bite your head off but please make an effort to help us help you

You need to relaxe eddie. If you look at your post, you didn't call it Centrino Hardware Control. I'll agree that "CHC" is pretty well known around heres as you stated, but this poor guy may think CHC stands for "Chicago Cubs" so give him a break, lend a helping hand (instead of being a brute).

Lol
Ye guess i didnt thought i did. I type too fast for my thinking ability. Still dont change the situation. How am i suposed to help without any details. Thanks god i didnt become a doctor like my parents wanted. I would have choked patients with my stephoscope and my prescriptions would have been full of spelling mistakes. Why cant they integrate the spell checker into forums like my sidekick has it?. My mistook. I take it back "chc" is vague. But i still have no details. An overheating laptop does not explain everything except anything.

Doctors have horrible handwriting anyway. Have you ever seen a prescription? Of course the choking patients probably wouldn't go over too well. I guess you picked the right career!

No i picked the wrong one anyways. I cant choke people but i can still abuse them with primitive verbal tactics. The right career for me should have been a retired pro fisherman or a holdem champion (working on now) where there are no computer screens to stare at for 10 hours daily. My apologies to any network admins/programmers who have these sucky jobs like me.

Not scared or anything but I was just a little busy.

The CPU temp is at 64 c
It is a 1.7ghz and the cpu clock says 1734mhz (13x)
CPU voltage 1.308v
CPU speed MAX performace

The keyboard keys such as q,w,e,r,a,s,d that is the left side of the keyboard is where its getting HOT or on the back where the Asus serial number is located...
what is located under that??

If someone wants to take a look at my laptop, let me know and you can do a easy remote desktop to my laptop...

I really appreciate for helping! THANKS ~
