Insulus, it sounds like you're trying to access the 'main' fans - ie, the two that suck air IN from the bottom. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post... Just to reitterate, this mod is done on the motherboard fan, not the two main ones.

In any case, to get to the motherboard fan, unclip the keyboard from the unit (little tabs at the top) then remove the heat plate. You should have access to the motherboard and all the components like ram, internal wireless/bluetooth cards etc. The fan is right there in the middle - look at Rondo's pic earlier in this thread.

If this doesn't answer your question, post some pics about the two plates you're referring to. Because I have no ideas...

ya, i thought that it was the two main fans on the bottom (i dont have the fan by the ram, older model that Rondo's mes tinks). the two plates i was refering to is the cover plate that the keyboard, monitor are attached to and the bottom cover plate that the fans on the bottom suck in air from. the grill where the air comes out is where they are binding on somthing just beyond view. (it is blocked by the motherboard and even when i removed the heat sink to reglue it.)

guess i should have just asked how to take the whole dat-burned thing apart.
