are you running dell quickset program still ?
i dont know if it has any bearing on the media buttons, but i know that the Fn+F10 (eject cd drive) doesnt work unless you are running it
there might be a similar program required for the media keys / or that allows you to re-bind these keys to regular keyboard expressions

also, what version of winamp are you using?
b/c in winamp 5 there is global shortcut keys, which could be what you need to re-bind to the dell media keys

though i dont have a i6000, so this is just general speculation
ill try it on my roommates i8600 tomorrow

no dell quickset left on my system. fn f10 doesnt work. but that really is the least of my worries. hmm can i map the global shortcut keys to dell media keys?? ill try it out... hows itunes?

The reason it doesn't work is because there's no quickset on your system, that's the only way the outside buttons will work. You can DL the software at support.dell.com That's what I did, I use winamp and it works perfectly, even while I'm in another program.

search this forum. Its possible without Dell Quickset, and has been done many times.

i know in winamp all you do is enable "global hot-keys" winamp is great and free.... iuse it and love it....screw WMP!!!! (:

Also, if you are still having problems getting the media buttons to work with winamp, a small program called i-touch from logiteck should solve the problem.
