i only go on long plane trips once a year, sometimes never, but a 14" seems more usefull to me, especially if you are taking it to class to take NOTEs. i wouldnt wanna lug a 17 around campus all day, id rather just have small and durable system i can throw in my backpack.

and this does have to be semi-realistic. otherwise its just not any fun.
I don't see why people complain so much about 17s. They're not heavy--mine sure isn't. It's around seven pounds and basically it's the only thing that puts any weight in my bag when I go to school. After all, we don't need to take all our books to class all the time, do we? I take one to to, and they're not big.

Anyhow, experiences may vary but if you get a better 17, you really don't spend time regretting the tiny weight difference. I haven't had a single reason to think that I need a 15 instead of this.

Just an Opinion

If anyone can find specs on a laptop that is similar to the W1V or better with same size and weight....please let me know.

I believe there is no such thing as a perfect laptop because I can come up with all these specs that would be impossible. Depends on each person's opinion.

However, I do believe that the W1V is portable enough since I see some lotta people using laptop on campus with same size but I dont think their laptops has specs anywhere near this machine. This machine weighs less than 7lbs has bt built in tv tuner ddr2 128mb video over 4 hrs of battery life.

Qosmio, I do own one that is 17" and it has those specs but it uses ddr and weighs 9.7lbs.

If you like 17", in my opinion, I think the W2V would be the perfect choice since it has all the good features and weighs only 7.5lbs. I dont mind getting one but I prefer a smaller screen since I had a 17" before and its not as portable as I would like.

Bah, to me the ideal notebook is the size/weight of the CL56, but with Yonah support and a GPU the speed of a 6800 or higher.

Seriously, with the 7800GTX in the high-end notebooks, X1600 should be low-end, not midrange. Midrange should be 6800 speed. And X700? Forget it, horribly slow.

If you get a 15", get something with a decent resolution, not this 1300x800 crap or whatever it is. Get 1400x1050 at least. 1400x1050 looks good on a 14.1" T42P I've got.

1400x1050 still looks good on a 15". Which is because it would be high-res even on a 17" desktop LCD, most of which are 1280x1024.
