Look at it, measure it, and then go into properties to determine the maximum resolution. Measure diagionally. Or if you have the invoice, take a look at it.

G, I'm wondering if he isn't meaning what brand or make it is. Personally don't know how to figure that out, if that's the meaning. My best guess'd be to email PCT and/or Sager. They should be able to tell you or at least give you an idea of how to find out. Wouldn't be surprised if it might go so far as to having to take the screen apart to find out.

I think that it depends on the size of he screen and the resolution. For the 16.1 inch screen SXGA, I that Aussie mentioned that it was a Sharp unit. The others, I can't remember. The service manual (If you can find a link to it) may indicate a part number for the various configurations.

There were several versions of the 8890 LCD.
Are you looking for a replacement LCD or just for infomation's sake?

The service manual for the 8890 (D800P) says that a Hitachi TX41D96VC1FAA display fitted, or a Sharp LQ160E1LW02R. The Brackets, screws and front surround cover around the display are different!

My screen has just broke and took my apart. My screen (assembled Jun 04) is a Sharp LQ160E1LW14, and sharp is printed on the inside of the surround, so you can find out which you ahve without removing the whole screen.

The same sharp display is also used in Sony Viao.

Hope the above is of help

The Hitachi was SXGA+ resolution whereas the Sharp was SXGA. Both were 16" diagonal. There was a 15" LCD version as well.
