Desktop replacement

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a Desktop replacement with:

SATA HD
17" screen
mobile processor
1 GB ram

What do you suggest to me about Dell?

Any help appreciated.

Regards.

The Inspiron 9300 and XPS M170 will fit all those criteria except for the SATA hard disk. You might be able to add one yourself, I'm not sure. It is recommended that you buy the minimal amount of ram from Dell, as they overcharge, and purchase the rest separately. What will the laptop be primarily used for (eg gaming) and why do you specifically need the SATA hard disk?

sata is nice but its not gonna help a laptop much even with a 7200 rpm drive, sata is fast capaible if 1.5 gigs a sec i think? but if u look sata hard drives are not running much fast at all then the old IDE

also the only sata drives out for laptops now are 5400rpm so whatever performance inscrease you get from a sata interface would be contradicted by the slower rpm

9300

SATA isn't worth it. Even the 10k drives don't get anything out of it.

In the world of notebooks, it's just marketing. It's pretty much marketing in desktops too, but if I say that, it will start a fight.
