I got my L2000 and need some help...

Hi guys, I'm very happy with the lappy so far. It's a little slow but I dont need it to be a speed monster. I installed couple of strategy and RPG games on it and it handles them just fine. The sound is ok when using headphones but the internal speakers rattle too much. The screen is gourgeous...

Anyway, I have two questions.

I can only use the scroll pad in Windows and Internet Explorers. It doesnt work with Firefox(Deer Park 2) and Opera 8. The mousepad is fine but no scrolling... Can anyone tell me why?

I opened the notebook so I see what kind of memory is in there so I can order 1 Gig more from the Egg and its some no name brand 200 pinn So-Dimm 2700 CL2.5
Is any memory with such specs going to be fine? Maybe 3200ddr?

Now the cons:

They used 2700ddr....why? Using 3200ddr would be much smarter. The default FSB is 200mhz anyway. So they used devider and there is no option in the BIOS to set it 1:1. Oh well... Maybe someone will make some kind of software that will allow me to set it to 1:1 in the future and use DDR400.

Thank in advance!

i happen to have one of these gorgeous laptops. at what power setting is ur notebook running? and is the powerplay on the ATi's control panel on? u can squeeze a few performance jumps by setting the battery power setting to always on (so ur processor speed is at 1.8ghz for sure and u can actually check if the notebook is saving power if the back air exhaust is hot; where the copper heatsink is. if it is hot, its running at 1.8 - if not then its going a little slower) and disable hte powerplay setting to play any of ur games a bit faster - just a gaming tip from me ;D. the reason why the scroll feature doesnt work for the game is because it wasnt made for games- it only works with the OS and they kept it that way for some reason. now for the ram...., the ram that the notebook comes with is kind of bad but it is very responsive, i took my 1GB 2700 corsair memory from my ZD7000 and swapped the RAM from that laptop to the L2000 and it does a lot better. 2700 is actually pretty good for some/little/nonserious gameing. it's just what they put in to keep the price right at $999 i guess. if this helped, your welcome ;D

I still can't scroll in Mozilla. Also any audio CD I burn, plays fine in the lappy but makes cracking noices in any other CD player?!?!?! I used both Nero and WMP to burn the CD's.

Smells like RMA to me....

Download and install this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...tem=ob-29801-1

Thats the drivers for the mouse... Make sure you go into the folder you install it into and run the program... Then you can go into control panel and change the new mouse touchpad settings...

What CD Writer do you have? Do you know how to find the model in windows?

It's the Matshita UJ-840D Dual Layer DVD Burner.

If you want to add one more Memory, remember download a new Bios F11 and upgrade, otherwise it will be down to 266 Mhz if using 2 slot; even those are DDR333, or DDR400;
throw away the old one and order a 1g DDR400 will be better for your graphic card performance!
