Touchpad/Scroll questions

For some reason the scroll will work with Internet Explorer but not Netscape. Why is this? Tried uninstalling/reinstalling touchpad drivers but no success.

I had the opposite problem, no scrolling in Netscape and Firefox. I went to the synaptic website to down load drivers and now ALL browsers scroll. I have a 9880 but i think the drivers are the same for the 9860. I dont know if it much help but the driver version is v8.1.2.28lul05. My touchpad version is v5.9.
