I have been looking at these two and would like some opinions on which one to get. Both very similar. I will be using the lappy for some gaming, photoshopping, email and general internet mayhem. Also, where should I buy from and does anyone know if any chains are selling either of these units. Last but not least, I would like to get one right away...meaning by the weekend.

Thanks for all and any advice.
Bob

Added the Sager 5320 to this list......

Only thing I can comment on, which is still probably somewhat subjective, is that ACER isnt in the same league when it comes to overall quality and build. Asus is simply a better product.

www.proportable.com www.discountlaptops.com www.istnc.com are good places to start for ASUS notebooks.

Not sure on the best place, but www.newegg.com offers ACER

IMO, the Asus z70v looks a lot better than the Acer 8100 (but I think the Ferrari 4K5 looks better than both, I'm partial to black). I have the 8104 and its pretty well built for a plastic laptop.

Today, I'd probably go for the z70v, but when I got the 8100 it was the only sonoma laptop with all of the features I wanted: under 7lbs, x700 or better, 1680x1050 15" screen, bluetooth, mediabay for 2nd battery. Its been a pretty good laptop. I do NOT like the greenish/silver color of the acer. I DO like the curved keyboard.

Any impression on this lappy compared to the others?

Any impression on this lappy compared to the others? No, not first hand at least. But I went down the same road recently (read too many reviews and posts to count) and bought the ASUS z70va. I haven't had it long, but so far it's a great machine. There are a couple imperfections with it (look at the ASUS forums here) but they all have some anyway. Games. I don't play FPS where the video is taxed the most, but I can say that Guild Wars looks and plays phenomenal on mine. My friends are truly impressed with the video rendering of this game compared to their LCD desktop screens. By the weekend? You can likely put a "rush to assemble" tag on on it (and by put I mean pay) and I am sure any reseller could overnight it to you. I ordered mine from ISTNC and with standard assembly time and shipping I received mine in a week (the std shipping only took two days). I had a good buying experience from them, but the service will truly be tested when something goes wrong. I had seen most purchases of this machine from them (so hence my purchase from them, plus the price was the lowest) but I also saw rjtech as highly recommended. c9tech has a sale (see ASUS forum) on right now, and they were very pleasant via email, but their prices were much higher for some reason. Sager was originally my first choice but ended up being a close second for me. PCTorque would be a good reseller for the Sager, and there are a number of others that also come as highly recommended. You can find more info on these models by visiting their respective forums or maybe PM someone who owns one.

Good Luck
