Sony Vaio pcg-grx670 broken gfx card?

HELP!

My brother has a Sony Vaio pcg-grx670 laptop. Now his graphics seem to be "gone". They are extremely weak (barely visible at best) but sometimes when booting up he gets a "blink" of perfect graphics with a reddish tint (once when booting up and once when xp is loaded).

He also sais that sometimes when opening and closing the lid he also get a quick "flash" of a perfect but reddish screen.

This leads me to beleive that EITHER a cable that attaches his screen has "come lose" a bit or that his Mobility Radeon 7500 card is busted?

Anyone know a good place to get a gfx card like that cheap and fast? He lives in Manhattan, New York. Or if anyone knows that it should be the cable being lose, do you have instructions how to open a VAIO and plug the cable in completely again?

Please let me know

Thanks,

Kaj

P.S. - my brother doesnt own an external screen so he hasnt been able to plug it in and test the external port yet...

Its the backlight thats failing not the vid chipset. CCFL's are a pain on this model. 16.1"? We do them everyday.
