I want a set of BT headphones with a noise canceling boom microphone like my Sennheisers. I spend a lot of time on international VoIP calls every day and no wire would be nice, but a cheap mic won't do.

Does anyone make a set of bluetooth headphones with a mic?
I would like a set for gaming.

Oh yeah! When I'm not making phone calls with them, I'm playing Ghost Recon. Good point.

Those are nice but I do not think 6 hours of battery life is long enough. I need about 10 hours.

Definitly the right idea. Thanks for the link!

Plantronics will be releasing Bluetooth Headphones shortly - they include rechargeable batteries that will last for an estimated 10 hours of listening time:

I'm Waiting for Bluetooth 2.0 Devices

Hope Bluetooth 2.0 devices arrive soon - headphones, cell phones, PDAs, and mice are on my watch list. Would like to utilize the 2.0 capabilities in my XPS2.

ok all, of these headphones come with some kind of dongle to allow you to listen to any audio source.

Does anyone know if any of these will also work without the dongle? i.e. I connect my laptop directly to the bluetooth headphones.

I've tried two different bluetooth headsets at this point on the XPS. A Logitech mobile freedom headset, and the Anycom Bluetooth headphones with the mic dongle. I've tried them paired to the Truemobile 350 BT adaptor, and with an external USB BT dongle.

I can honestly say that both are a huge pain in the rear. First and foremost, the Toshiba stack from Dell apparently doesn't include a headset profile. The default BT stack from XP doesn't either.

The alternatives are hacking a Widcomm stack to work with the 350, or using the external BT adaptor. In both cases, getting the headset to actually work as an audio gateway is about as much fun as pulling teeth.

I got both working, but audio is delayed significantly from both Teamspeak and Media Player. Add the frustration of having to activate and connect to the headset each time you wish to use it, and I quicky went back to my Logitech headset, connected to the headphone and mic inputs.

What I'm looking for is:

1. No delay in audio
2. Once the driver is installed and the device paired, I shouldn't have to do anything other than turn the device on to use.

Neither of the BT solutions tested fit the bill.

On the other hand, my Palm works fabulously, syncing with ease across the BT link.

I use the Toshiba drivers and it does have the headset profile. On both my Anycom and i-Phono Stereo headsets I can use either the "Headset" or "Audio Sink" profile. When you were setting up your headset for pairing in the Toshiba did you try the Custom Mode instead of the Express Mode?

I use toshiba drivers for my logitech mobile pro thingy.
It works fine, I havent played with it much, but I know speaker and mic works.
I don't notice any lag, even with a bluetooth mouse and phone all paired at the same time.
I should try it with voip or something...

My biggest problem with these headsets is that they are not stereo
But yeah, it *should* work, it does for me...

Well dang...

I decided to retry the Toshiba stack, and apparently, something botched in the initial install. I've got the Logitech headset paired, and it's working through Teamspeak. I still have to connect the device everytime I want to use it, but I suppose that's not the worst thing in the world.

I'm charging up my AnyCom headset now. As soon as I get it paired, I'll check it out and see if it's still laggy.

EDIT: Sure enough - the Anycom seems to sync well with Media player playing an mpg I pulled from my Tivo, and sounds pretty good. Listening to audio from iTunes sounds like AM radio, but it could be a power issue (charged long enough to pair), and in any case is good enough for walking around the house listneing to books-on-mp3.

Thanks for the input folks!
Any idea why Toshiba installed 8 COM ports? Is that normal?

Ok cool, i picked up the new toshiba stack from Dell and my stereo headset works fine now, W/O the transmitter dongle. (connects to the 350 internal chip now).

Only question I have left is why it won't connect using WIDCOMM 5.x. The (hacked) WIDCOMM stack finds the headphones fine. Pairs with the device fine, knows that it has to use Audio Sink. But won't connect.

I'd of course far prefer to be using the WIDCOMM stack, but I dunno why it only works with the Toshiba stack.

Hey guys, I have a sony HBH-610 headset that is BT 2.0. I've paired it with my computer using the Toshiba stack using the express mode. I can do an audio test and see the mic (headset) working in windows, but I cannot get the mic to work for Battlefield 2. Is there something that I am doing wrong?

Btw, there is a new toshiba stack avaliable, version 4.0
