OK, a friend of mine got her 600m in and has qwest internet at home. Apparently she had some problems and can't get it to work and is getting all pissy and I'm not sure what to do. I told her to remove the AOL that was pre-installed and then load the qwest software they sent her to be able to connect wirelessly. This was last night and I recieved the following email today. Could someone please read and let me know what to tell her? Thanks. Her message:
I don't know if you're at work or home sick. I called one of my cousins friends and he told me how to reconfigure my IP address. So, I just need to get the wireless connection encrypted. So, this is what I need if you know how to do it: I need to know how to access my ethernet card to input the key code for internet encryption. (it is somewhere from the control panel, we called qwest and they told us Dell would have to tell us where it was) So, I called Dell last night about 8:45ish (after we talked) and after being transferred 3 times and on hold for another hour, the last girl I got said, "I'm sorry you'll need to call back between 7-7 EST and speak to Software support. There will be a minimal fee for this service" I told her I didn't need software and I wasn't paying for anything, I just needed to know where to access my ethernet card. We got disconnected-I don't know if she hung up or what? Needless to say, I am very frustrated with this computer situation. If you know how to access the ethernet thing - let me know. Alex is going to call his brother and ask him today. Otherwise, I will probably return the computer. $1000 is a lot of money for me to spend, it is worth it for no hassel computer access etc, but if I can't utilize the wireless function then I may as well have purchased the desktop.
