A couple of questions before i bios upgrade a 9300>M170

Ok i'm in the mood to upgrade my 9300 bios to the XPS Gen2 Bios and then to the XPS M170 bios, i know the procedure on flashing and all but here are my few questions.

1) I have a 9 cell battery but no XPS2 power brick, is the whole procedure possible by just having a 9cell battery? Is there anything downgraded if i use the 9cell with a 90W power brick? like will i get less performance or will i have to do some procedure to make it boot everytime (liek unplug the power boot the battery then plug it in? also will it get charged by the 90W power brick?

2) So whats the verdict on the ethernet port? It doesnt turn to gigabit once flashed correct? consdering it doesn't does it still work and recognized as its supposed to be at 10/100?

3) I think ive read that the 6800go vanilla is supported even int he xps2 bios, i just want this to be confirmed?

You have to have the 130 Watt power brick for the system to run in full power mode. The 6800go will work but only with the 130 watt power brick. You will also have to unplug the power cord anytime you want to boot.

awesome thanks, since ive read that ur 9300 is flashed to an XPS2, whats the status on the ethernet question and the graphics questions that i posted above? also have u experianced anything at all not working how it should be since u flashed? and also can u go from 9300>xps2 and then xps2>9300 again with only a 9cell battery? or i would need a xps2 brick to go back to a 9300?

I don't understand. What difference does it make going from the 9300 bios to the XPS2 bios??

The ethernet port works fine. You can get the 130 watt brick here:

I would wait till you have the 130 watt Power Supply before flashing. I know I did. I am presently running the M170 bios as we speak.

By flashing to a different bios you give yourself the possiblity to upgrade to a 6800U or even a 7800GTX with the 9300 if you are willing to open the laptop and do some modding. I am not 100% positive, but I am pretty sure this will work. The downside is this DOES VOID YOUR WARRANTY and it is risky. Upside is you could possibly be able to upgrade to a 6800U. Worth the risk to me, especially if I can get the 7800 GTX to work in my lappy

IF you dont have the 130 Watt power supply, the XPS2 BIOS will be pissed, and not boot. However, because XPS2's also come with the 9Cell battery, if you boot with just the 9-cell, its happy as a clam.
