You have the option during install.

Express: Recommended
Custom: For advanced users and system administrators

Choosing not to install the Catalyst Control Center will not install the standard Control Panel instead. You'll only have the standard Windows options for adjustment.

Thanks very much,
do you think it is worth installing the CCC given that it requires .NET framework and that I am not really interested in gaming?

If you do not want to install .NET Framework, then I would recommend using the drivers supplied by Clevo. Installing drivers without the CCC or Control Panel is not recommended since the software is necessary for properly setting up the card.

Thanks,

I will probably stick to 5.8 drivers unless something goes wrong, the CLEVO drivers are very old.
What about using a modded version of the desktop cards drivers?

Since the current five releases of Catalyst Mobility drivers all use the Catalyst Control Center, I'm not sure which 5.8 drivers you are referring to.

As for modded drivers, I don't feel there is any reason to use them if your card is supported by the Catalyst Mobility drivers.
