New Powerbook, what things should I do

PB Specs: G4 1.67ghz, 2gb ram, 80gb HD, 128mb GPU, Mac OSX Tiger & bundled software.

Just two things really. I have an 80gb HD, i know formatted it loses a couple gigs. But with the standard Mac OSX Tiger build, I only have 65gb left before I've even installed any other programs.

Which brings me onto my second thing. What programs can I delete that come with the standard build. What software should I download? I have already run the updater and installed what I think is neccessary.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx

Enjoy your new toy is the first thing you can do. The reason it is so big is because it installs the iLife suite which includes large programs such as garageband. You can delete some of the programs in iLife that you might not use. This should free up a lot of space on your hdd's.

you're formatted space should be around 74.5GB. if u can back up any data i'd recommend doing a clean and customized install. w/ the custom u can choose which printer drivers (they can be hefty) and iLife stuff gets installed. dump nanosaur for sure. as i don't do music i dumped garageband. go w/ your needs. i believe my install shrank from 5+ GB to around 2.5.

There are so many things that are not required but might be nice to have. As triadone said, you can delete all your printer drivers. You can later install your own when needed. I might dump garageband too because I am running low on space. I think it's something around 4GB in size. But, I don't know what is safe to discard since I haven't had my PB for that long. Still learning
