t42 no power, no charge, no boot?

Guys,

I'm working on a t42 - pretty new - but it is an american model purchase din the UK so support isn't going to fix this.. anyways - it has been unplugged for 3 months at which time we think it was working.

Now plugged into the mains it will not power on. Taken battery out and gone stright mains - still no power up. Used another adaptor - still nothing.

Initially I saw when plugging and unplugging a flicker of light - which makes me think

cmos battery is dead - from being unplugged so long..

what are your thoughts and recommendations. I have it plugged in right now.. but no charge light, nothing, and the flicker will no longer go. I guess the next step is to put a charge battery in it from another machine and see if that boots it.

also, no sigbns of abuse machine looks in perfect shape.

after being plugged in a minute with teh battery inserted, area around the plug (power supply presumably is warm)

remove the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press the power button ten times, then hold the power button down for 20 seconds.

re-insert the AC adapter and see if it will power on. if not, try removing AC and inserting the battery.
