Redefine -assign Euro/Dollar Key??

Thread Starter
Hello,
I wonder, why acer did at the 810x series the Euro and Dollar Key over the left/right cursor key. Better assignment would be Page up/down or Home/End. Is there any possibility to do this?
Thank you for reply,
Murphy

That's a good idea. I'm thinking about remapping them to nothing. I have big fingers and accidently hit those keys quite often. The Euro key might be useful but why have an extra $ key???

same thing on the ferrari - i was tempted to rip out hte keys because i hit them all the time! remapping would be great... if i only knew how to do it!

Right-click on Launch Manager tray icon and choose Exit from menu.

Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Launch Manager directory. Make a copy of file MMKEYBD.CFG. Now start editing original file and delete lines (from both sections) like
Key 18 = 1,E0,33,E0,B3,F508,Euro Symbol
Key 19 = 1,E0,34,E0,B4,F509,Money Symbol

Save file.

Double-click/start QtZgAcer.exe (Launch Manager).

Done. Keys are unmapped.

Now, if I knew what codes should be returned by PgUp/PgDn, I would map those keys to paging (like on TM8000 series) by replacing F508 and F509 with those codes. Probably need to dig in Microsoft knowledge base...

By the way, Euro Symbol should be also accessible as AltGr (right Alt) plus some other key on regular keyboard, I forgot which. It's just not marked on TM8100/F4000 keyboards. If someone has TM8000/F3x00, they could check out where the Euro Symbol is.

on the F4005 it's Alt Gr and 4 to type the Euro sign - UK keyboard

I guess it depends on the nationality of the keyboard. On my Ferrari 4005 it's Alt Gr and 5 to write the Euro sign - Danish keyboard.

on the german keyboard you have to typ AltGr + E for the euro-sign ...

Hi all,

I've been trying to do this for a long time and found a way to do it.

1. Remove the keys from the MMKEYBD.CFG file just like DarthAcer showed in a previous post and thus disabling the keys.

You must do this because the Launch Manager will 'trap' the keys and they'll never get to the OS.

2. Download and install SharpKeys (it needs the .Net Framework that you can get from microsoft) from:

http://www.randyrants.com/software.html

I'm not related to the software maker but if you like it remember to contribute.

3. Use it to map the codes of the keys. Its very simple to use. Just add the mappings from one key ($ for example) to the

other (End for example) using the 'Type Key' button to capture them, then press Write to Registry and reboot.

I've mapped the Euro (Sorry but I cannot longer type the sign as the Alt Gr+5 wont work anymore BE AWARE I don't know what

else could stop working) to Home, $ to End and End to Delete.

Happy Coding!
