NEW ALIENWARE AREA-51M3 - Athlon64

Thread Starter
Uniwill 766AA0
Chipset: SIS755

The link is here: http://www.amdboard.com/athlon_64_notebook.html

It will use the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with 256 mb!!

This machine will be due out in January 2004, hopefully.

Anyone have any idea of performance compared to Alienware's current Area-51m2, with the Intel P4 3.2?

Also here is a link of newer laptops also coming out using Intel's Prescott processor:http://www.eurocom.com/products/future/future.cfm

That has been posted here a few times already...and yes, I for one am excited about it.

As far as performance, I don't think anyone here speculate with even the slightest bit of accuracy...unless they have a 64bit AMD and a 256meg ATi 9700P

I'm a little leary of buying the AMD 64 right away. But I am curious when the 9700 mobility will be available for us to order as an upgrade.

I doubt that anyone rushed De Vinci when he was painting the Sistine Chapel.

Right.. but one was a work of massive art, the other is a simple laptop... :P

Anyway, i am REALLLLLLLY skeptical, as ATI has said that a mobile 9700 eont see the light of day (too much power, die too big). Im thinking that this is the 9600XT...
