**NEW** XPS Gen2 Bios version A05 - Page 2

I just installed A05 into my XPS2 and there is no change to battery life. Does the battery meter need to be recalibrated or something?

Thanks,
Rayt

i'm on a05 too and everything is fine

I pulled the plug on my XPS Gen 2 after updating to A05, and either way it was the same battery life.

I did, however, flash back to A04 since my system just rebooted for the first time all on its own when I was playing WoW.

I upgraded today myself and all i see is the extra little bit of info in the bios about battery health and thats about it, as it said..

nout significant but good to see rather than not.

I'm returning to A04 also. My computer is starting to crash to the blue screen for no apparent reason. I've done nothing different since flashing to A05, which leads me to conclude that it is the new BIOS that is causing these problems for me.

I went from A01 to A05 no problem. Haven't ran any games but watched a movie and did some other stuff, no problem. I'm running 77.70 video driver no problem. I even did doc's large desktop 'trick' no problem. I think it's stable.

I upgraded from A04 to A05 on my 9300 and I DID have a problem. My idle temp went from about 32 C to 47 C! Everything else was identical settings. I downgraded back to A04 and the temps went back to normal.

Jesus, I said XPS but I meant 9300. Ugh, I have no idea why I said XPS.

hmmm...Looks like I will wait for a different BIOS revision. I have heard similar findings from others...thanks guys for the input!

Isnt it simply so that Dell might have increased the level where the fans kick in? Personally I feel that my M170 is a bit more quite now, kind of like with the fangui enabled.

exactly the same problem, CPU idles at 47 instead of 32 and my GPU idles at 56 instead of 40.

Well I downgraded to the A04, and all of the temps are good again, cpu back down to 32 idle and the GPU idles again at 45. yay thanks for the info.

I found out what was wrong with the A05 bios. it doesn enable the fans at the right temps. the CPU fan never turned on for me and the GPU fan would only turn on at 60C, slow speed (2000RPM).

There's a lot of talk about the i9300 A05 BIOS in here, but this thread is about the XPS2 A05 BIOS. This may be causing some confusion when trying to get a concensus on the outcome of running A05.

I run it on my XPS without a problem and I play games, watch movies, etc, etc. Temps are the same as A04.
