hey all
somebody recomended me to install notebook hardware control to manage the main things about my notebook. on one of the setitngs i put max performence and the temp went up to 85ºC so do anyone has this high temp or what kind i do to lower the temp in order to have max performance.

Nothing wrong with that at all. That is well below maximum operate temp for dothan and its common on the z70 under max load/
My m5n max load is 83C and its a 400fsb 1.7ghz.

Follow the sticky under Notebook Guides.. there's a post there that has a step by step instructions on how to undervolt with RMClock and then stress test with Prime95.. It's not that hard. If you want to use Centrino Hardware Control instead of RMClock, get the value first using RMClock, because it finds the in-between values automatically.. then once you have your Min and Max figured out.. plug those in CHC and uninstall RMClock. Make sure you run Prime95 for at least 12 hours to really make sure that your cpu is stable after undervolting. Goodluck.

Why does G2P give conflicting answers to this question? His response here says that 85 degrees is totally normal and "well below maximum operate temp"
But in two other threads, he says different...
which one is it?

From another thread at: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=111460

"You can use chc to check temps
CPU temps between 60C ans 80C are normal
hdd temps up to 60C are normal
If you are exceeding these temps contact your dealer.
z71v are warranted by dealers not asus."

and from here: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=112287

"85C is tops under full load. Everything below that is acceptable. Normal opperating temp on ac under low load is about 60-70C depending on the ambient temp and usage. If you rest it on your couch ofcourse its higher, if you run chc its lower."

Jeez dude, just let the grudge go....plus, in the first thread, Eddie is talking about the Z71, which has better cooling than the Z70VA. Also, the OP said that he was hitting 85, which Eddie said was acceptable, but the uppermost limit. 85 does seem hot to me, but maybe the OP is using the computer in a warm room, or doesn't have it on a surface that allows for good airflow...either way, 85 is still within the PM's normal operating parameters.

Rambamatic, you're dealing with 2 different models here. The Z71v runs cooler than the Z70va, so a higher temperature is in the acceptable normal range for the Z70va, while it wouldn't be for the Z71v. Eddie has his facts straight on this. You need to check out more details before you claim he's inconsistent.

Rambomatic
I am on partypoker plying holdem, call me up and cry me a river. Better yett draw me a straight flop with a conspiracy theory. I can crawl under a persons skin I hear. Is not true is it??

BTW rambo
100C is MAX for dothan. I would like to see it well below that so would anyone else. I can get my m5n close to 90C but on extreme measures and long periods of time in a not so cool room but it "tops" out at 83C. You need to stop stalking me i have enough problems without a male stalker.

Undervolting does wonders, i dont break 70C while gaming even.

It has been known to cause instability
I use it too.
