New A05 Bios for 9300 Users Post results

Thread Starter
I just flashed after hearing about 30 mins extra battery time. So I will test that, and post results. Also the system seems to use the fans less in idle situations. I am thinking they tweak the fan settings. My idle temps are up a bit, not much though. Running on AC, and just idle, showed 2hours and 6 mins, which I have never seen before. I am using the small 6 cell. I am used to seeing about 1:30 mabet a tad more. LCD is at defult brightness on battery, 3. So good job Dell, mabey with the 9 cell, I can see over 4 hours

I have the same results here... With A04, when the fans had to speed up, they would never slow down again. Now they work as I expect them to, and my laptop is nice and quiet again! Yay!

I've been running i9kfangui, but it seems that the default fan speeds in the A05 BIOS are working well for me. Other than that, the only new thing I have noticed is some sort of "we'll track your laptop if it gets stolen" thing in the BIOS, which I currently have deactivated. I don't recall seeing that option in the BIOS setup for A04.

Overall, a big thumbs-up because of the fan thing. I would definitely recommend all i9300 owners flash with the new revision.

I upgraded from A03 to A05 and have noticed a definite battery life increase, but also an increase in the heat dissipating from the processor and onto my lap. The heat coming out the bottom has increased and that I hope doesn't decrease the life span of the laptop. I have looked around and can’t seem to find an A03 just incase I decide to revert to my default bios.

my shit gets so hot underneath that i found a new laying position on the sofa. Yea better life is nice... But i can make coffee on the laptop now... who needs starbucks now? Using fan gui to run fans on slow now so it's a little better.

I never tested the battery life thing, but the temps increased about 12-15C. Too hot my my liking, even with CPU undervolting. I just put A04 back on and the temps dropped immediately. Noticeable to the touch and definitely to NHC. I get decent battery life anyhow. I'm sticking with A04 for the time being. My fans are so quiet that I never notice them running. Actually noticed the fan sound more with A05 than I have now with A04.

Me thinks I'll just stick with A04. I get 4 1/2 hours of battery with my 9 cell already, and it runs cool just like I like it. Besides....It ain't broke. WTF would I want to try and fix something that's not broke????

Having the exact same problem with A05 and reverted to A04 and it went back to normal.

Gotta love Dell's exhaustive testing procedures.

Yeah, New Deli and Bombay are the perfect testing environments

I'm running A05 on the wife's 9300, so far it's working without any problems.

The laptop itself has something wrong with it (and has with every bios version/driver i could find).. the onboard Nic drops connections all the time, the wireless works great though... Requesting a repair from Dell for that.
