Common Slow Video problem

Hi I've read on these forums about the solution to this issue, but can't seem to find the response that led to the solution of the issue.
I periodically have slowing in video, particularly noticible in games. I've recently reformated so I have yet to update the bios, and I plan to try this tonight, but in the meantime does anyone know if this is a common issue that can be easily resolved some other way? Thanks

On my 9860, I'm experiencing periodic slowdown that is simultaneous to a CPU drop in clock speed and a temperature spike. Sager told me to clean out the fans and the vents so I'm going to do that once my compressed air arrives in the mail. If it doesn't solve the problem, I'm not sure as to what to do since my questions have been largely ignored regarding what Sager would do regarding this heating issue.

Well I had a very similar problem, I cleaned out the fans (which were very dust filled) but there wasnt a noticable difference. I then decided to check out my heat sink and to my suprise the thing was clogged with dust bunnies. I cleaned that out and it ran like a dream again. So give that a try.

Anyone think that Sager/Clevo one day may make a small removable filter? I've seen many desktops with them; not sure if they would restrict airflow enough to cause a problem.

How do I get to the heatsink? Just remove the plate covering the processor fan?

Yeah its really easy to do. Like 7 screws.

Yeah I've cleaned out my heat sink recently, and also it just started slowing down after I reformatted so I feel it is associated to some setting that must have defaulted. I'm about to flash the BIOS I'll let you know if that fixes it for me. --- EDIT -- ANd I'm stupid; I flashed my bios earlier this summer before reformatting, so the bios wouldnt' change after a reformat... so that can't be the issue. There is a chance that my fans/heatsink could have gotten obstructed between the time before and after the reformat... but I don't have the tools to do this so I'd like to resort to this last if anyone has other ideas.

SO thinking back I decided I'd try some things I did earlier in the summer. In the control panels I went into Wireless Link and under the hardware tab I disabled my Infrared device. So far the issue is resolved, I'll edit this post if I see anything come up. Thanks for the advice on the fans though, I am keeping an eye on the temperature.

Hmmm, that's an odd solution. Could you tell me where I can disable my infrared device? I couldn't find it anywhere in control panel/wireless connections. Thanks

There is a universal way to do this and in matter of fact I posted it a couple of days ago but you probably missed it. Here's how you do it:

Right click My Computer-Manage-Device Manager-Right click on Infrared device and select disable.
