Hello everyone!!!. I would overclock my laptop with pin mod; I have a Pentium M processor at Bus of 400 Mhz and I would change it to 533 Mhz. Is there someone that he takes a part of laptop? because I don't want lose guarantee and I don't know if it is difficult open the laptop and make pin mod on my processor. Thank you..

I have this memory installed in my Inspiron 14R. 6gb (one 2gb & one 4gb). Great performance! I highly recommend Kingston.

Well what can I say, I needed that little bit of extra storage that as a family we could all use. After searching around I narrowed it down to three suppliers, not the cheapest, but all well...

I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...

I thought so, if I remember correctly the old dv4000s shipped with only 400mhz fsb cpus and PC2700 ram. Of course, I could be wrong...just the way I remembered it for the one week I had looked at the site before I got this replacement for my X1000 and then HP screwed me by updating the whole line (my X1000 had a 1680x1050 screen and a Radeon 9200, while they did comp me with a DVD burner, its still a sizeable downgrade).

I asked HP and they answered me this: "The memory used in the customized HP Pavilion dv4000 series is 333 MHz DDR SDRAM PC2700"
We all know that is not true, not for the current model, so WTF is wrong with those guys that are supposed to give us technical support???
I still can't decide:
-2x512=1GB for $150 from HPshopping.com
-1GB from newegg.com + 512 (free upgrade form 256 to 512) from HP = 1.5GB for $88
The 256MB DDR2 PC4300 module and the 1GB DDR2 PC4200 module are compatible, right??? But will the memory run on Dual Channel??? Or both modules have to be the same to enable Dual CHannel???
Billcsho: I hope you post some information about your experiences with the memory upgrade.

You would need to get two new sticks to support dual channel (same size), maybe something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820144182
Then sell the old sticks here or on ebay.

Sorry for the late reply as the rebate offer for the 1GB Transcend DDR2SODIMM expired last night. I finally received it yesterday and put it in. It works great with the original 256MB DDR2 in Dual Channel mode. I checked the chips on the 256MB module that came with the DV4000, it is DDR2 PC4200 but CPU-Z reported it as PC4300 (the same case with the new 1GB module). The Transcend SODIMM I got uses Samsung chip, however, it is recognized the same as the regular Transcend 1GB (TS128MSQ64V5J) with Elipida chip. In other words, it is identical to the regular Transcend except for the better Samsung chip. It has a CAS latency of 4-4-4-11, which is better than the original 256MB (4-4-4-12). But in dual channel mode, they are both running as the slower one. The addition of memory does not affect SuperPi calculation, but the start-up time is significantly improved. DVD ripping is also very fast. My next test is to convert a 2hr Divx to MPEG2 and burn on DVD which usually takes >8 hours on a Pentium-III 550MHz, now it takes only 90min.
** According to HP, you don't need to match the two SODIMM in DV4000 for dual channel. This is confirmed with CPU-Z on my DV4000 with 256MB on slot 1 and 1GB on slot 2.

Now I don't have to be worried anymore, I'll get 2x256 from HP, then remove one module and insert a new Kingston 1GB from newegg.com (Mem+Shipping+2 Year Warranty for only $108). This way I'll have 1.25GB like billscho and a spare 256MB module.

I just hope you are right billscho, 'cause those CPU-Z readings are obviusly wrong

If everything goes as planned, I'll order the laptop this week.

I went back to hp.com and found they've changed the memory info for DV4000 today. Now it said dual channel is supported with symmetrical pair.
It is not clear if they have changed motherboard on the DV4000 again or they found they made a mistake on the description. I am going to find some apps other than CPU-Z to check the dual channel status with asymmetrical pair. I'll post the result here after I found out.
By the way, the Transcend 1GB DDR2 SODIMM went further down in price this week. It is now $71.99 after $10 rebate.

. I would really appreciate if you post your results as soon as possible, 'cause I'm ordering my laptop this saturday, and I need to decide if I should buy the memory from HP or from newegg.com.Anyway, Thank you very much Billcsho, you have been very nice with your posts.

Maybe this program will help:

I think that the chipset it is the same and change only processor from dothan to carmel. But with pin mod you can became a dothan a carmel
