Wondering if anyone is using a non-powered Firewire device, e.g. CF card reader/writer, in the PCMCIA slot via a 6-pin Firewire adapter. My external Firewire HD works fine, but I just got a CF card reader and it doesn't mount. The (Belkin) PCMCIA adapter does mount as usual, but XP Pro SP2 doesn't recognize the card reader.
I plugged the card reader into the 6-pin FW port on my desktop PC and it works fine. I've tried a Delkin and a Lexar reader and neither of them is recognized. I also replaced the 6 pin-6 pin cable provided with the reader, with a 6 pin-4 pin cable and plugged it directly into the 4-pin Firewire port on the 8790 but it didn't work there either. Delkin says their reader should work whether I use an adapter or not. I'd just like to know if anyone has experienced the same thing, or if they have the same setup and it works.
