Hi,
I've recently been trying to install xp pro and encountered problems - as you all know the hard drive is not detected. However i have finally been able to upgrade windows on the laptop.
If anyone is stuck trying to do this there is a guide at http://www.maximumpc.com/2005/01/how_to_slipstre.html.
This article goes through the entire process, however i found it easier to stop at the end of step 5.
I then downloaded the latest version of nlite and followed this through to make the bootable iso image (using the xpsetupcd file which i made in the first 5 steps from above). Finally, i burned the iso image using nero.
I only added the Via driver (viamraid.sys) at the beginning as it was essential and it saves time. Once xp pro was running- the drivers and utility disk were used to supply the rest of the drivers.
Hope this helps, and if there are any questions feel free.
