LCD stays off

Sometimes when I leave the laptop on overnight with only AIM running, I'll wake up and flip it open but the LCD stays off. I'll move both the pad and mouse around and nothing happens, I'll press the little LCD stick, nothing happens. I know it doesn't go into Standby or Hibernate, the only solution is to press the power button and wait until it shuts off which means that it's not frozen either. Any ideas?

My 9300 does this alot as well. I have to log in, and standbye the computer blind. Fortunately I know the key combinations well enough. Once it goes into standby, I can boot it up and its fine. I think it has to do with the LCD position sensor though. Sometimes my screen doesnt turn off when I flip it down......

Hmm, so if I assign the power button to Standby, wait for it to do so, then come out of it, it should work right?

It happens with my alienware too ... I think it's windows XP's fault.

yea, ive had that problem tons of times
doesnt happen so much, more often when i have tv-out on

so i just plug the tv (or external vga device) get screen on that reset driver

i think its the nvidia driver crashing personally, since most of the time the driver tab disppears when this occurs

well maxi, nobody ever said windows would be good .. just that it'll play games.

Yes I have that prob as well and I have set it so that well if I close my lid nothing happens other than the screen just shutting down. So when I open the lid back up often times the screen turns back on. If not I press that little switch again and the lcd starts working.
