Different Lappys, Too many decisions

Well its basicly all upto the GPU about which lappy i prefer to purchase. i obviously know that i will have to purchase another battery as i just have this thing about wanting a 256MB GPU?
can someone tell me whether it is really worth dishing out all the money to try and get a lappy with a 256MB GPU, as i can guarantee i wont be upgrading the lappy for another 3 years. and in 3 years time i would still like to be able to play the new games!
( Note im in Australia so it hard to get decent lappys, also i dont want a 17" screen )
Not to woried about whether going turion or dothan, or should i just wait and see what the new yonah processor has to offer :-/
BTW i have a budget of about $2500.00, spose i could stretch out to $3k

So far here are a few different lappys that ive come across..

1.
ITC Millennia 6450 $2739.00
Pentium-M 2.0 Ghz Dothan 2MB Cache Processor, 15.4" WXGA CSV Super Glossy Display, 128MB ATI Radeon X-700 PCI Express Video, 100GB 5400rpm HD, DVD Dual Layer Burner, 1GB Ram, Windows XP Pro, 802.11G Wifi, 1 Year Warranty, Insured Air Freight Delivery.

2.
Asus Z71VP $2859.00
Pentium M Sonoma M2.13Ghz 533
2G Ram
LCD 15.4" WSXGA 1680x1050
100G HDD
DVD Dual burner,
Graphic Card: nVidia GO 6600 128MB

3.
DreamBook Slim 400AE $2963
PM 2.0 or 2.13ghz? ( how much difference is there really )
ATI Radeon X700 256MB PCI Express :-D
1gb RAM
100GB 5,400RPM Serial-ATA Hard Drive
8x DVD-/+RW Dual Layer Drive
802.11B/G Wireless Module

4.
Asus A6K Series $$2,275.00
AMD Turion MT30 Processor , 2 X 512MB DDR Ram, Microsoft XP PRO Edition, 80GB (4200RPM) Hard Drive, DUAL Layer DVD+-RW+CDRW+CD+DVD, 256MB Nvidia GF6200, 15.4"WXGA (CSV) TFT, 802.11G Wifi, 2.85Kg, Onboard CCD Camera and Microphone

i would like it if i could find something like a Clevo M560A, and get it into Aus as it contains some nice specs such as:

CPU

Satellite M60 Pentium-M 760 (2.0GHz, 533MHz FSB), 17" WSXGA+ TruBrite(CSV) 512MB + 512MB (DDR2) 80GB (5400rpm), DVD-SuperMulti Double Layer, Windows XP Pro Edition, LAN, W-LAN (Intel 2915 802.11abg), Bluetooth, 1394, 5-in-1, Express Card, Toshiba Express Media Player

That's just my opinion though. :P

yeah thats what i want lol, other peoples opinions lol.. only prob with the M60 is it has a 17" screen, and im sure i dont wanna lug arounda a 17" lappy with me everywhere, especially if i need it for uni lectures etc

I live in Aust and I too am looking at the Dreambook 40EV. It looks very good but it seems a tad expensive. I can't find any other noteooks that have a plain 15" screen with a X700 so it's just fine. I would go that one over all of them.

yeah i know what you mean michael..
I feel that i will have to dish out nearly AU$3k for a nice lappy, and well that does seem like one.. but that clevo notebook is niice, the curves the shape.. **dribble**

Hey if you are okay with 7.3lbs in your bag, you won't mind the M60.

I use ine for lectures too, and I don't have a problem with it at all.

Hope you find what you're looking for!

didn't he say he didn't want a 17" one? I'm the same, 17" are just tooo big for me, 15.4" I consider the absolute BIGGEST. I'd go for the Dreambook one (you're getting it from Pioneer right?) as you could save money on the processor and just over clock it as I've heard the PMs are very overclockable.

yeah dude i was looking at getting that one from pioneercomputers.com.au, looks nice..
but im also starting to wonder what type of things will be out by the start of 06 ??
yeah that's true, but look at it this way, the newer GPUs (egL 7800) won't be in 15" - 15.4 models they'll be in HUGE 17" desktop replacements. Also from what I can tell teh new Radeon is prety well crap so you're probably safe with the X700 for a while. CPU wise, the Sonoma PM seems to be a fairly reliable CPU and you can always upgrade it in the future if you so desire. There's got to be a point where you actually buy a lappy because by the end of 06 you'll be saying "I wonder what'll be out at the end of 07".
