2405FPW Questions

Thread Starter
Im looking into getting one. My problem is Im using a Athlon 2600/9600-XT rig so I wont really be able to run any high end current games in its native resolution. I do want one just as a monitor replacment and since it has component inputs use it for upcoming consoles like the Xbox 360.

Does it only support its native resolution or can I run it in lower resolutions although I probably will have a bit of a quality loss?

Yes you can game at other resolutions. It really doesn't look that bad either, just takes some getting used to.

What are the specs on this lcd? Resolution and so on I mean and then the price of course. I am looking to get a couple 24 inch lcd @ 1920 x 1200 res for my new gaming rig/dcc workstation that I am about to build depending on some upcoming hardware roadmaps.

WHOA! I am impressed at the specs!! Thanks for the link Wooster! Now if it only didnt have that DELL logo up front!

Ok I think I am gonna get one of those 30 inch Apple displays....awesome specs on that one!

Seeing as how the Dell is brighter, sharper, has (slightly) better viewing angles, has s-video and component connections, and is less than half the cost of the Apple moniter, I'd say go with the Dell. Buy two if you feel you need the room.

The Dell is the #1 Large monitor on the market, blows Apple 23 and Sonys 23 away...Check the review on www.cnet.com

Avg user rating is 9.1 OUTSTANDING. I LOVE MINE, its much crisper then the Gen2s screen.

Gracias amigos! What I am looking for is generally as large a screen with 1920 x 1200 resolutions as is possible. No rush since I can wait for a bit. I guess checking out the screens and comparing them side by side is in order. But thank you for all the help. But yes as Wooster pointed out the advantages of the Dell screens I am leaning towards that right now.

Suryad... I belive that Dell and Apple both use the same LCD supplier on some of their models... I don't remember the specific model.. but it's out there on google

I'm leaning toward the 2005FPW myself... now if I could just justify spending ~$420 for a monitor I don't need
